Your Retreat Leaders

Willow Lohr is your instructor for this course. Curiosity and an unfailing conviction in the existence of magic has led Willow to the Path of Ravens and Hares. Although she was born in the Netherlands, she has lived almost her entire life deep in the unspoilt nature of the mountains in Scotland. And although she is now guided by Nature, the Trees, the Animals, Rivers and Wind, her knowledge originates from 20 years of practical teaching in Bushcraft (Ray Mears), Tracking (CyberTracking), Handcrafts and Wilderness Skills. She is a Master Expert Beekeeper. So, you can expect her knowledge of Nature to be thorough and well-founded. All her experience is deeply connected in the Earth and the Elements but finds a firm footing in substantiating science. She will take you on a wandering path from present to past and back. She continued her philosophy studies with a specialization in the philosophy of the mind and then continued on the path of Shamanism and had lessons with Native Elders for four years. The combination of scientific thinking and the experiences from the traditional Paths means that Willow moves comfortably in nature and can stay there for a long periods of time. From this basic attitude, she will spark your connection.

Catherine Stewart Catherine has spent the last decade creating EagleRock, her haven and a highland home to many who return to Scotland. Catherine’s focus is on bringing out each individual’s voice, writing a novel, and running her ethical AI music company.

Amelia Oliverio is a French-Italian Clinical Herbalist and traveller, weaving anctral plant wisdom with modern science to support women’s vitality and inner strength. Her work is rooted in nature, deep listening, and a love for herbal traditions that reconnect us to ourselves. Trained at the Land of Verse school in California, she holds space where herbs become allies and healing feels like coming home.

Gerry Esparon, our chef was born in the Seychelles, but has spent 40 years in the UK, raising a family of three girls, and making people happy with his organic, locally sourced ingredients and tasty food.

Modern society blurs the edges of seasonal extremes, offering unlimited access to food, warmth, and entertainment, obscuring Nature’s seasons and teachings. And yet here we are—nourished yet hungry, harvesting stress, uncertainty, empty-handed and forgetful.

This retreat is a remembering.

To peek behind everyday veils, giving significance and meaning to the language of symbols, activating your intuition.

Come and fill your basket wisely, joyously, deliberately, under the abundant, treasured light of the Northern Scottish Sun.
Every day is imbued with revelation and reverence—with self and other, with being and doing. In the bright Solstice days, your shadow falls small, and we tend to this work with clarity and truth.

Understanding symbology and the subtle magic underpinning the everyday requires you to engage with nature—not only spiritually, but through practical earth skills, handcrafts, natural history, ritual, divination and ceremony. You will make fire using foraged fungi, flint and fire steel; receive a beautiful knife and learn to care for it and to carve and hand-make its sheath; create and activate your own oracle set, dye paper with foraged plants and lichens and hand-bind your journal in a felted cover.

The Solstice, Fire, Water, Earth and Air form the foundation of our daily focus.

Embedded within each element is always the makings of fire, the gathering of bones, stones, feathers, and small treasures of personal importance. Making from these a uniquely personal system of symbols.

The lure of revealing what lies hidden lives strong within us. Oracles and the skills of Divination have accompanied humanity since earliest times and are still practiced worldwide. Sacred scripts such as Ogham or Runes, the Zodiac language of stars, Tarot, dice casting, palm reading, I Ching, yarrow sticks or knucklebones, continue to guide us toward shifts in perspective, new insights and truths.
